An experienced freelance part time lecturer is required to teach, on-line, a Network Fundaments module as part of a technology degree apprenticeship programme at one of the UK's leading business schools. The successful candidate will have either (a) significant teaching experience or applied research in networking or related disciplines, or (b) are practicing IT professionals who actively manage networks as part of their core work duties and can deliver engaging courses in an online classroom environment. For the core teaching components, the commitment is typically 3-5 hours a week, teaching classes in the early evening. Additional opportunities exist for managing the course modules, including module development at a more advanced level in the future. The core teaching component is offered at £50 - £60 per hour. The primary role is teaching Network Fundamentals at degree level using virtual classrooms from anywhere in the UK. Additionally, the lecturer would manage the course cohort, ensure academic integrity is maintained, marking assessments, providing timely student feedback and ensuring the smooth running of courses. The lecturer would be expected to teach the following: Introduce the main professional certification paths associated with computer networking; Foundational principles of network architectures; Network operations, security and troubleshooting; Common networking standards, in particular the OSI standard, TCP/IP and Bluetooth PAN protocol models; Practical network modelling using a simulated environment. Dependent upon the candidate's experiences and preferences there is also the opportunity to undertake a variety of additional duties. These include providing module leadership, curriculum design, assessment marking and students project supervision. The start date for the teaching component is January 2018. REQUIREMENTS Skills & Experience Candidates should have:- A degree or a relevant professional qualification or certifications Hold a teaching qualification at any level relevant to the discipline or fellowship of the HEA. If you have neither of these then a commitment to undertake a PGCPE or equivalent which the client will facilitate and award. If you have no formal teaching experiences then the employer will be interested in those that have (a) worked extensively in technology roles which have a high component of designing, implementing and managing networks and (b) Can present engaging networking material in an online environment Have excellent IT and computer skills Excellent written communication and presentation skills, preferably having experience of teaching or presenting materials using online teaching tools Be highly flexible and responsive in your approach to your workload as well as the ability to proactively prioritise your own workload, preferably gained in a previous home working or telecommuting role. Be a strong and adaptive team player, willing to listen and collaborate. Commercially and educationally focused with leadership and coaching skills.
