An experienced freelance and part time lecturer is required to teach, on-line, a Systems Analysis and Design module as part of a technology degree apprenticeship programme at one of the UK's leading business schools. The successful candidate will have either (a) significant teaching experience in systems analysis and design or (b) are practicing IT professionals who have a practical understanding of systems analysis techniques and methods as part of their core work duties eg working as business analysts, systems solutions architects or business systems analysts Practitioners should be deliver engaging courses in an online classroom environment. Responsibilities For the core teaching components, the commitment is typically 3-5 hours a week, teaching in the early evening. Additional opportunities exist for managing and developing course modules. The teaching component is offered at £50 - £60 per hour. Additionally, the lecturer would manage the course cohort, ensuring academic integrity is maintained, marking assessments, providing timely student feedback and ensuring the smooth running of courses. The lecturer would be expected to teach the following: Overview of Systems Analysis and Design (SAD) The purpose role and responsibilities of business/systems analysts Requirements elicitation Systems analysis and modelling techniques, artefacts and tools Different analysis approaches including stepwise analysis and Object Oriented/use case approaches Construction and documentation of analysis outputs in a range of business contexts Dependent upon the candidate's experiences and preferences there is also the opportunity to undertake a variety of additional duties. These include providing module leadership, curriculum design, assessment marking and students project supervision. The start date for the teaching component is January 2018. if additional module leadership work is undertaken this commences in Aug 2018. Skills & Experience A degree or a relevant professional qualification or certifications Hold a teaching qualification at any level relevant to the discipline or fellowship of the HEA. If you have neither of these then a commitment to undertake a PGCPE or equivalent which the client will facilitate and award. If you have no formal teaching experiences then the employer will be interested in those that have (a) worked extensively in technology roles which have a high component of business systems analysis and (b) Can present engaging networking material in an online environment Have excellent IT, written communication and presentation skills, preferably having experience of teaching or presenting materials using online teaching tools Be highly flexible and responsive in your approach to your workload as well as the ability to proactively prioritise your own workload, preferably gained in a previous home working or telecommuting role. Be a strong and adaptive team player, willing to listen and collaborate. Commercially and educationally focused with leadership and coaching skills. Ideally you would also have: - Experience of teaching at undergraduate or the equivalent professional qualification level Experience of teaching online Experience of module design and leadership Experience of supporting students in an academic context Experience in writing engaging learning materials for face to face and online delivery Experience of providing guidance and leadership to a teaching team Benefits The employer is one of the UK's leading private universities dedicated to business and the professions and offers professional, apprenticeship and degree qualifications.
