Graduate Teaching Assistant in Westminster Are you an enthusiastic, recent graduate seeking an opportunity to kick start your career in education? An inclusive two-form entry Primary School in the London borough of Westminster is currently looking for a passionate Teaching Assistant. The role is a long-term position with the contract being for one whole academic year and will begin in September 2017. Most recently the Primary School has been awarded an overall 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and is renowned for the children's excellent behaviour and the quality of support and management from the Senior Leadership Team. Education to a degree level (2:1 or above) is desirable As a minimum the teaching assistant appointed will have a CACHE level 3 Experience in a similar teaching assistant position is also desirable but not a necessity. This primary school is offering the opportunity to gain invaluable teaching experience working with children in Key Stage 1 and 2 (KS1 and 2). You will be assisting the classroom teacher by supporting small groups of children or helping on a 1 to 1 basis to ensure the lesson objectives are achieved and that all children receive the guidance they require. You will also be helping with general classroom activities including preparation for the day's lessons. An ideal teaching assistant will: Be passionate about the education of young children Be pro-active and reliable Have good communication skills Be patient and a good listener Have flexibility and confidence to work from a planned lesson, and the adaptability to teach/support a lesson when emergency cover is needed You must be eligible to work in the UK and complete a valid DBS check. The position will be a long-term contract until the end of the summer term in July 2018. Very strong candidates will be considered for a permanent position next September.
