My client, a local authority in Berkshire are currently looking for a Junior Planning Officer to join their team on an initial 6 month contract. They are looking for a fresh graduate with a degree in Geography, Town Planning, Urban Design or similar and no industry experience is required.The Technical Planning officers/Career Grade Planning Officers will work together with managers and the Heads of service in a positive, proactive and dynamic manner in accordance with the Council's vision, targets and objectives. They will: -To develop the knowledge, experience and skills required to effectively deal with all aspects of the legislative and local planning processes to enable career progression and further specialization.To prepare Local Plans and policy documents and guidance through the statutory process to adoption, including leading on particular high profile area (topic or category of document)Validate and register all planning and related applications and appealsEvaluate and make recommendations on all submissions to the Council and to be accountable for these decisions.Investigate, assess, and make recommendations about planning enforcement and all associated legal processes.Undertake training and contribute to the implementation of new systems, guidance, practices and procedures to facilitate the continuous improvement of the service.Provide professional planning recommendations and advice to Council Officers and Members and in this capacity, when required, represent the Council's at Working Groups and Committees etc. both in the Council and externally.Engage with all relevant stakeholders and negotiate effectively on behalf of the Council to ensure the delivery of high quality infrastructure rich development.If you are interested in applying for this role, please send a copy of your most recent CV or call me.
