Our client manufactures an exciting range of systems for the construction, automotive, acoustic and audio markets, exporting to numerous countries around the world. They are a leading manufacturer of engineered facade and roofing systems to the architectural sector, complemented by a comprehensive range of fasteners, load bearing components and accessories. They have full in-house testing facilities, as well as 3D design and engineering analysis and also produce a broad range of acoustic mesh and perforated components for the automotive, architectural and audio markets, specialising in visual imaging on facades as well as aesthetic diffusion and absorption solutions.

THE ROLE- Process Engineer (Mechanical)- Birmingham (Smethwick) West Midlands

The Process Engineer will work closely with all relevant departments and depots, to plan and implement the introduction of measurable and effective continuous process / workflow improvements in-line with company objectives. To rollout lean manufacturing techniques across the Fabrication, Sheet profile & Perforation manufacturing environments and improve industrial processes in order to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability by process design, operation and implementation

Key responsibilities for Process Engineer in Smethwick to include:
Work closely with all fabrication depots to plan and implement the introduction of measurable and effective continuous process / workflow improvements in-line with company and department Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)Carry out work studies and balance production processes to improve operational KPIs, implement Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), capturing mechanism across depots and regular reporting along with improvementsDetermine and introduce optimum facility and equipment layoutsReview and improve material / product flow throughout Ash & Lacy Fabrication, Sheet & Perforation manufacturing environmentActively progress new products through the Engineering Change Process, implement Build Concern Reporting Processes and link to Internal and External Non-Conformance process.Adherence to latest Quality Assurance procedures within Ash & Lacy and review, recommend and implement downstream procedures to capture business quality requirements.Resource machinery and provide data to support applications for capital expenditure as part of continuous improvement.Conduct / Assist training of, and champion, internal 5S and DMAIC process implementations. Define audit routings and provide management with additional training requirements for office and operational staff.Responsible for the operational introduction of new products in-line with New Product Development (NPD) process within Fabrication, Profile Sheet & Perforation domainDrive Non Conformance reporting mechanism and provide guidance / assist on root cause analysisChampion Fabrication, Sheet & Perforation preventive action implementation processAnalyse and drive forward problem solving, quality improvements and waste reduction through inter-depot meetingsDrive detailing to manufacturing process improvement processes by liaising with Sales, Commercial and Detailing departmentsEnsure prompt and regular communications within the Engineering, Quality and Detailing and relevant departmentsLiaise with customers and suppliers as necessary to clarify technical details and overcome problemsDevelop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output THIS LIST IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE OTHER DUTIES MAYBE REQUIRED THAT ARE CONSIDERED REASONABLE FOR THE ROLE AND TO SUPPORT OTHER FUNCTIONS

CANDIDATE- Process Engineer (Mechanical) - Birmingham (Smethwick) West Midlands

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working within a Process Engineering role with experience of manufacturing/similar environment and be educated to an engineering, mechanical, or related subject, degree level. You will have experience of introducing measurable and effective process improvements, and strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to work alone or as part of a team in a challenging but rewarding environment.

Degree qualified in a relevant discipline and experience working within a Process Engineering role from a manufacturing/similar environment ( suitably qualified graduates with some experience may be considered)Demonstrable experience of introducing measurable and effective process improvementsStrong organisational and project management skillsExperience of lean manufacturing techniquesProficient in the use of Microsoft OfficeDemonstrable report writing skillsProject/Teamwork experience DESIRABLE
