Our independent investment management partner is looking for an experienced Market Data analyst to identify customers' needs and recommend strategy solutions for market data vendors that have service spends less than $1MM/annum. Our client employs over 6,000 associates worldwide, including over 545 investment professionals. The contractor will manage the Market Data Information Lifecycle minimizing risk and maximizing opportunity of existing installed base and provides support with contract engagements. Working within a small team, the contractor will function with oversight from the Project Leader, Market Data Services, making sound decisions and taking actions which impact projects, business units and the firm. Required Experience/Skills Experience working with market data service vendors Experience with Financial Information Tracking System (Market Data Inventory Management) Strong understanding of market data vendors and the products commonly utilized in the industry Provide guidance to business and legal on interpretation of contract documents Moderate Vendor negotiation skills Ability to use sound judgment and engage superiors only when necessary. Potential impacts of an incorrect judgement are one time errors in the $1MM to $500K range Ability to independently prioritize work load and projects Consensus builder to achieve individual buy-in, project progress and team success within diverse organizational groups Soft skills, ability to recognize level of audience sophistication, interact effectively and communicate complex concepts and strategies Communication skill to resolve complex vendor billing problems and communicate ordering policies to client staff working against assignment deadlines Desirable Experience/Skills University graduate (or equivalent) with preference for BA/BS degree 2-5 years related work in data acquisition Deliverables Responsible for researching and recommending potential market data services vendors needed to fulfil business requests. Assist business in identifying potential vendors, summarizing service options including costs, and performing due diligence on selected vendors in order to mitigate risk and ensure best practices. Must know intimately the services currently being received by MDS vendors to ensure we don't duplicate or create conflicts of interest. Exercises sound business judgement and persuasion in order to enforce firm policies and lead business towards making the most beneficial and cost effective selection.Processes requests to add, cancel or re-assign services due to moves, departures or change in business requirements. Controls costs by avoiding redundant purchases. Prioritizes orders based on knowledge of departmental personnel and requirements. Leads contract negotiation with vendor service spends less than $1MM/annum. For both new and existing contracts, incumbent demonstrates expertise in negotiating price and service level agreements appropriate for size, length and scope of engagement. Works in collaboration with Legal and business to ensure final contract is in compliance with firm policy, minimizes risk, and maximizes opportunity while meeting the customer needs. Requires the ability to be forward thinking and flexible in meeting both internal customer and external vendor requirements. Continuously educates the business on vendor management and work with procurement team, Vendor Management Office, and Legal to standardize, formalize and enforce vendor policies and procedures. Participates in projects related to or targeted at enhancing the MDS procurement process, (eg participation in the creation of the contracts for Market Data vendors). Trains junior or temporary Market Data Staff. Supervises their work, ensures accuracy and provides recommendations and guidance.
