Our client is a long-established medium sized Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy located in Stockport, Cheshire and takes pride in offering expertise and guidance in a comprehensive range of engineering services across multiple market sectors, including; Flood Risk Assessment, Geo-Environmental Investigation, Housing Development, Management of Surface Water Run-off, Party Wall Surveyor, Structural Inspections and Subsidence Investigation.An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, ambitious and hands-on' Senior Structural Engineer to take full technical responsibility for a range of projects. The successful candidate will have achieved corporate membership of the IStructE (or ICE) and ideally five years post-chartered, experience in the industry.Our client has a policy to promote from within and for supporting career progression to Associate, and potentially Director level, thereby directly rewarding the engineers who have contributed to the Company's success.Your duties as a Senior Structural Engineer will include: Taking full technical responsibility for the design of a range of projects under the direction of an Associate or Director with a particular emphasis on inspections and investigations, contract administration and party wall matters.Liaison with the client, contractor and other members of the professional team on behalf of the Practice.Responsibility for conceptual and detailed design and drafting as leader of a team.Inspecting and investigating damaged and defective buildings.Preparation of structural inspection reports, contract documentation, tender enquires and remedial works.Spending a fair proportion of time out of the office as inspections are likely to form a large proportion of your work. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualities: Ideally, a decade of post-graduate Structural Engineering experience, with five years as a Chartered Engineer.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write logical and lucid reports including Structural Inspection and Investigation Reports. Experience writing Desktop Studies, Site Investigation and Flood Risk Assessment Reports would also be a benefit.Working knowledge of industry-specific software, such as AutoCAD LT, MasterSeries, MicroDrainage, and TEDDS. Whilst not essential, knowledge of Civils 3D and Revit Structure would also be advantageous.Good interpersonal skills including the ability to supervise a support team.Conversant with the structural design of foundations, structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber superstructure elements and frames, to satisfy current Codes of Practice and Building Regulations requirements. A "hands on" approach, prepared to follow your own designs/details.Good team player alongside the ability to work autonomously and to proactively manage and prioritise own workload.Flexibility, enthusiasm and a willingness to develop and broaden your range of skills.A current full driving licence.
