Software Development Engineer Intern

Our goal is to show the most relevant, appealing and valuable program content to customers in Amazon Checkout. On this dedicated team, you will build a tailored program upsell experience within Checkout, using customer behavior data to build affinity and recommendation models that provide tailored, fluid, friction free content that ensure customers are not distracted from core checkout.
You are an SDE who has a passion for building front- end and back- end systems at scale, and launching bar-raising customer experiences. You enjoy deep diving into data and building customer insights to power great customer features. On the new upsell optimization team, you will be able to make a huge, measurable impact to the shopping experience and build solutions that can process large volumes of data, with lightning quick response times while providing simple, effective and relevant targeting for programs like Prime and credit cards. We will apply Machine Learning capabilities to ensure we are continually optimizing the upsell customer experience. This role will have sufficient opportunities to grow to more senior/lead SDE positions given the scale of technology required and possible business impact.

You will also help instrument, analyze and understand customer behavior in the checkout flow . You will work with a variety of data analytic technologies such as S3/EMR, EML, Dynamo and Redshift, as well as tools and languages like Pig, Hive , Jupytr and spark.
Additional core technologies such as Perl, Java, C++, Javascript, CSS and SQL will be important for this role as well. Individuals interested in this position should have experience building customer-facing software on top of complex, multi-tiered, and service-oriented architectures.

• Undergraduate in Computer Science/ Engineering or related subject with a passion for development
• An active participant in development and engineering outside of your current course

• Previous working experience with user interface design or hands-on experience of web design technologies such as CSS, Javascript, jQuery and Ajax is preferred.
• Big Data technologies: S3/EMR, Hive, EML, Dynamo
• Experience with Machine Learning techniques and systems
